Walk is Evangeline's annual community fundraiser dedicated to expanding HIV and AIDS Screening, Treatment, Education, and Prevention 4 Expanded Resources across Central Georgia. In partnership with the N.O.M.O. Organization, this walk brings together individuals, families, businesses, and entire communities to take meaningful steps toward health equity, access, and hope. Central Georgia faces unique challenges in HIV prevention and care. Rural communities often experience limited access to testing and treatment, fewer prevention programs, transportation barriers, higher levels of stigma, and reduced funding for community-based services. The POWER S.T.E.P.P.E.R. Walk exists to change that. Every mile walked, every dollar raised, and every voice lifted helps build a stronger, healthier future for our region. This is more than a walk — it's a movement. A movement for access. A movement for education. A movement for life. Join us as we walk with purpose. Walk with community. Walk with POWER. WHY THIS WALK MATTERS: HIV in Rural America: • Rural areas have fewer HIV testing sites. • Many Southern counties, including Central Georgia, are high-priority zones for HIV prevention. • Stigma causes people to delay or avoid testing and treatment. • Transportation and clinic shortages reduce access to ongoing care. • Rural residents experience higher rates of late diagnoses. Central Georgia Needs: • Expanded access to PrEP, PEP, and prevention education. • More community-based HIV services. • Increased outreach in underserved counties. • Support for individuals living with HIV. • Funding for testing, treatment, and care navigation. How the Walk Helps: Funds support free HIV testing, prevention programs, treatment access, community outreach, stigma reduction, and support services. N.O.M.O. PARTNERSHIP: In Partnership With: NAVIGATING OMITTED MINDS OVERTIME (N.O.M.O.) Organization N.O.M.O. is a community-based organization dedicated to navigating and supporting individuals through mental and emotional challenges. Together, Evangeline Inc. and N.O.M.O. are committed to expanding HIV/AIDS resources and services across Central Georgia.
